Addiction Treatment
The Addiction Treatment and Psychology Services Program
1 - Assessment, Selection and Preparation Selection criteria ensure patient's motivation and a solid support structure. A psychosocial assessment and a thorough medical assessment determine suitability. At least two sessions of pre-detoxification counselling are undertaken. A Psychologist appointment with client and support person will complete preparation.
2 - Detoxification
A thorough assessment of the most appropriate form of detoxification is required. If there a risk of fitting or serious physical withdrawals then a medicated detoxification under medical supervision may be required.
3 - Aftercare
A comprehensive aftercare program that includes support during the immediate post detox period, 6-12 months Naltrexone and Antabuse maintenance, individual and family counselling and employment/education assistance.
Until recently, achieving long-term abstinence has had little success; due to low compliance to treatment programs and high drop out rates. Our program offers a treatment alternative for some alcoholics.
